New outpatient Cardiovascular Cath Lab Opens in Fort Payne

In August 2016, Appalachian Cardiovascular Associates became the ONLY facility in the state of Alabama to operate a cardiac cath lab in an office setting. Our fixed ceiling-mounted C-arm provides high quality x-ray images that are necessary for cardiac diagnostic studies, for peripheral arterial interventions and venous interventions. We are able to perform these procedures in a convenient, comfortable setting, without the hassle of registering at the hospital, bouncing from one department to another, and being handed off to strangers you have never met before. At our office you will receive the same personal attention you have become accustomed to at your regular visits with Dr. Saxena and with Rene. You will quickly see that we have spared no expenses in acquiring the latest in heart diagnostic and safety equiopment to insure a high quality and safe procedure. We are planning an open house event in the next few weeks, and would love to give each of our patients a personal tour of the facility, so you can see why we are so proud of our world class outpatient lab.

New Cardiovascular Satellite Clinic Opens in Scottsboro

In August 2016, Appalachian Cardiovascular Associates opened a satellite clinic in Scottsboro, AL, next to 50 Taters, near WalMart. At this location, we will offer cardiovascular care, primary care, cardiac and vascular ultrasound, varicose vein treatment, nuclear stress testing, and will be conducting clinical research protocols in disease states like heart failure, high choleterol, peripheral arterial disease and coronary artery disease.

Our brand new office has modern amenities, convenient parking, and access to a board certified cardiologist for the citizens of Jackson county, who had to previously travel to Huntsville or Chattanooga for quality cardiology care. Our Scottsboro facility is called Scottsboro Heart, and you can make your appointment at (256) 792-8346.

Endovenous Laser Ablation

Are you bothered by painful varicose veins? Do you suffer from restless legs? Do your legs ache, cramp, swell, feel heavy or feel tired? You may have venous insufficiency. We are able to identify this condition with a painless ultrasound examination, and begin treatment. If conservative treatment is unable to fix the symptoms, we can use a specialized laser or radiofrequency catheter to ablate the veins that cause these symptoms, and treat the disease permanently. This is an outpatient service, with zero down time, and no hospitalization.

We offer free screening for those with leg pain, to determine if they are candidates for this revolutionary procedure.

The radial artery is a blood vessel in the wrist that is becoming an alternative to the groin as an entry point to insert catheters in diagnosing and treating coronary blockage. Stents can be delivered easily via the radial approach. We can use this approach for patients who cannot lie flat, and for any patients who prefer the immediate mobility following the procedure, and shorter recovery time. It is not for everyone - if the Ulnar artery is not supplying adequate blood to the hand, we may not be able to use the Radial artery. We can determine if a patient is a good candidate for this procedure with a simple maneuver at the bedside.

Home Monitoring for cardiac pacemakers and defibrillators

A significant improvement in pacemaker and defibrillator management is called home monitoring. Home monitoring is a service that allows your implanted cardiac device to "talk" via radio waves to a receiver that sits on your nightstand and is connected to a phone line. This communicates with your device every night and reports back to us if there is a malfunction or a change in your status. This can allow us to call you and adjust your medication, and potentially keep you out of the hospital!
